Worship Service Producer | Contemporary Experiences
The Worship Service Producer is responsible for all aspects of production, equipment, and personnel for HPUMC’s Contemporary Worship spaces — Wesley Hall and events happening in other venues as needed. He/she must know how to use, evaluate and maintain equipment, assign tasks to staff and find volunteers based on talent and event needs, and prioritize projects. They will also work with the Director of Production to elevate the in-person worship and event experience and the online presence.

Working Hours: This is a full-time position working at least 36 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Monday-Thursday 9 am – 5 pm (includes a 30 min unpaid lunch); Sunday 7 am – 1 pm.
Event support hours vary greatly and during certain times of the year, additional hours may be necessary to meet the job's demands. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services, including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Cornerstone: First and foremost, this position is responsible for carrying out the vision of the Cornerstone leaders from a production standpoint, including set design. To effectively do this, the position is a member of the Cornerstone team and is responsible for attending Cornerstone meetings, rehearsals, and events. The Executive Pastor, Contemporary and Director of Cornerstone will provide the vision and direction for worship, the producer will use his/her experiences to carry out the vision from a production standpoint.
- Worship: In both in-person and online settings, the production of worship services and events for HPUMC is paramount. This individual will oversee the production of contemporary worship and the overall online streaming production. He/she will assign tasks, assess performance, and communicate effectively and professionally with staff, volunteers, contractors and congregants. Worship services encompass both traditional and contemporary worship in multiple venues, each of which has unique technical equipment and requirements. Following worship services and events, the individual will prepare final files or recorded services for streaming and online platforms. The position coordinates with others on the Production team to ensure that the needs of the Church are met, and that proper time alignment and operational needs for any and all contemporary services, events and needs held in any venue throughout the HPUMC campus are in place. Specifically, the position will work with the Production Program Manager to coordinate contractors and ensure their payment.
- Wesley Hall: This position is responsible for set design and overall appearance of the Wesley Hall stage and backstage. The area is expected to be maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Events: HPUMC annually hosts thousands of events, encompassing concerts, performances, speaking engagements, weddings, funerals, and other similar occasions. This position is responsible for overseeing and prioritizing the technical requirements associated with these events. This includes conducting contract reviews with external entities, managing and scheduling the loading and unloading of equipment, and identifying the most efficient methods to support these events. Additionally, it is crucial to monitor the schedules of these events within the event scheduling system (eSpace) to proactively ensure that all necessary requirements are documented and fulfilled.
- Equipment/Venues: This position should be able to evaluate and help the Director of Production, the Production Project Admin and the AVL Systems Tech to oversee the maintenance of the current equipment, as well as future equipment needs for both growth and technical advances
- Oversee set up, testing, operation and repair of audio, video, and lighting equipment for weekly worship services and special events as requested by staff.
- Help determine the AVL Systems Tech plan maintenance, upgrade, and inventory of all equipment needed by the department, including but not limited to microphones, cabling, mixers, cameras, computers, switching gear, lighting console, lighting equipment, and various media.
- Oversee the preparation of stage, choir loft, altar and other settings for services and events, setting up equipment and tearing down and storing afterward.
- Oversee organization, functionality and cleanliness of the stage area in collaboration with worship, facility and ministry teams.
- The Worship Service Producer will serve as the Planning Center coordinator for their respective service needs – ensuring that service plans, teams and files are updated and maintained.
- This person will work with the facilities team to ensure that the staging areas of the Wesley Hall stage are maintained in both cleanliness and repair as needed. The management of the stage is essential to the overall safety and quality of the service or event and as such, this person will ensure that these safety and organizational standards are met.
- Administrative: The Worship Service Producer will work with the Director of Production/Executive Producer to prepare the Production budget for equipment, contractor pay, etc. Anticipate and address unusual financial needs and oversee all administrative requirements of the Production department. Help schedule and obtain volunteers for worship services and events. Working closely with the Production Projects Admin, this role will ensure that contractors, volunteers and staffing needs are in place for any event within their oversight.
- Direction: This person should be a coach; able to train and give direction to the Production staff, contractors, and volunteers in a professional and considerate way.
- The Worship Service Producer should always be able to jump in and be hands-on in any of these roles as necessary.
- Obtain and direct contract workers for special needs; recruit, train and assign volunteer helpers.
- This person should be accessible, responsive and pleasant to the HPUMC staff and congregation. Along with senior management, develop written Production policies, communicate policies to staff, implement and enforce them, and help as necessary.

Education and Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required; engineering or media degree helpful, but not required
- 8+ years’ experience in production or theatrical operations
- Experience in church worship production is preferred, as well as experience working with/developing a volunteer program
- Knowledge of video, audio, lighting, electrical, and production
- Stage design experience is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required, and ability to work successfully in a team environment
- Strong attention to details and ability to prioritize competing projects
- Ability to strategically think through projects and their relationship to the big picture
- Excellent time management skills
- Capable of summarizing chunks of information for clarity and understanding
- Enables participative discussions and learning among team members, allowing them to express and present different opinions while maintaining a respectful environment
- Ability to deliver high quality video production in a live event.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary
- CTS Certification is a plus.

- ProPresenter
- Asana or other project management system is a plus
- Video and photo editing software knowledge is a plus
- Resi & Brushfire and ability to learn and use software to support video distribution, signage, and web-based storage/sharing is a plus
